Last night, Monday 26th June, at Milan’s San Siro stadium, Coldplay unexpectedly invited ZUCCHERO “SUGAR” FORNACIARI on stage.
The British band joined in on “Diamante”, and then frontman Chris Martin left the stage to Zucchero who performed a version of “Hay Man” with just voice and guitar.
«One of the things I like best about this job is improvisation. Last night at the San Siro Coldplay sprang a surprise by inviting me on stage and asking me to sing “Diamante” with them, and then they asked me to do another song. I was a little embarrassed as I improvised “Hey Man”, with just my guitar and voice, but hearing the crowd singing with us was a very special moment that I’ll never forget.
After the show, when I was in the car, I received a lovely message from Chris Martin: “Zucchero, our brother forever. THANK YOU so much for being here today”.
All this is “soul”, “love” and “respect” and it should always be there, not only among artists but above all among human beings».
